Here's a nice little utility which will help you find the CD Key of your Windows XP .

Download the attached file,extract it & just run the file to find your XP CD key.Hope it helps.

That doesn't sound right the Dell systems come pre-installed as well but they should at least provide a key

i haven't checked the back of my pc yet.

but if it does have a key, will i be able to download XP and then use that key??

lol i downloaded it and then scanned it. it was fine. extracted it and says no files to extract.

I remember I moved from AXP -> A64 -> P4 -> A64 platform without reinstalling OS

All I did was uninstall all drivers before shutting down and moving to the other platform, once moved to a different platform, boot into safe mode, reboot again into normal mode and install drivers.

So yeah, it does work, but not always guaranteed

EDIT: Wait... it's actually AXP -> A64 -> P4 -> A64 -> C2D The current OS that I'm still using right now

Eh, yeah, that works quite often... but not if you change from a non-ACPI motherboard to an ACPI motherboard, or vice versa.

thats a lot of technical stuff to remember and the only abbreviation i understood was P4=Pentium 4
other than that i am lost
