SANTA CLARA, CA—SEPTEMBER 23, 2004—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today reported that its products won three product awards and swept the high-end system shootout in the October 2004 issue of Maximum PC magazine. Glowing reviews for the new NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6600 GT are also among the most recent events to substantiate the technology and performance lead that has been extended with the Company’s latest line of graphics processing units (GPUs).
“PC OEMs need the fastest components available to win reviews. The fact that GeForce 6800 Ultra shows up in nearly every system in a high profile review like the one in Maximum PC is a clear indicator that it gives them the best opportunity to win,” said Dan Vivoli, executive vice president of marketing for NVIDIA. “The GeForce 6 architecture is consistently called the most technically advanced on the market, and each new member of the GeForce 6 Series is shattering performance records. The recent addition of GeForce 6 GPUs to the Dell Dimension 8400 and Dell XPS desktop PCs are prime examples of the kind of excitement these GPUs are creating at PC OEMs and consumer electronics retailers.”
The October issue of Maximum PC featured a big “Desktop Death Match” where they challenged six top PC makers to send in the most powerful systems they could assemble and pitted them against each other to determine the fastest PC. Five out of the six PC companies leveraged NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra GPUs to achieve the unbridled performance this contest demanded. In the end, the NVIDIA-powered Alienware Aurora ALX took top honors, while the NVIDIA-powered Falcon Northwest Mach V Icon Exotix finished a close second. Both systems were awarded the Maximum PC “Kick Ass” Product Award.
In a stand-alone review of the eVGA e-GeForce 6800 Ultra AGP graphics card powered by the NVIDIA flagship GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU, Maximum PC magazine technical editor Will Smith simply stated, “Fastest video card we’ve tested,” before awarding it the Maximum PC “Kick Ass” Product Award.
NVIDIA GeForce 6-based products have won more than 100 awards from magazines and Web sites to date.
