Default NVIDIA Gears Up for GeForce 7800 GT Launch – Web-Store!

Quote:
NVIDIA Corp. may be preparing to launch a yet another GeForce 7800-series graphics card in a very short-term future, as at least one online store has accidentally posted the information about the product online. A more affordable GeForce 7800 GT graphics card is expected to complement the already shipping GeForce 7800 GTX and to put even more pressure on ATI Technologies, who has not yet released any new high-end products.

The GeForce 7800 GT graphics product will inherit architecture of the GeForce 7800 GTX, but will come with reduced performance, which is still likely to either outperform, or come close to products like NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra and ATI RADEON X850 XT Platinum Edition.

NVIDIA’s GeForce 7800 GT will have 20 pixel processors, an unknown amount of vertex processors and clock-speed below 420MHz. Graphics cards based on the new graphics processing unit (GPU) will be equipped with GDDR3 memory at the speed of around 1000MHz with 256-bit interface. By contrast, the GeForce 7800 GTX features 24 pixel and 8 vertex processors, clock-speed of 430MHz and memory speed of 1200MHz. It should be noted that different parts of the GeForce 7800 GTX operate at different frequencies, e.g., pixel pipes and raster operation blocks (ROP) function at 430MHz, while vertex pipes work at 470MHz. The chip’s clock-speed peculiarities of the GeForce 7800 GT are unknown. It is also unclear, whether the GeForce 7800 GT is a new chip, or a cut-down version of the GeForce 7800 GTX (formerly code-named G70).

ZipZoomFly online store had reportedly posted some information about the GeForce 7800 GT graphics card by XFX manufacturer. While later the page was removed, its screenshot has been posted online by [H]ard|OCP web-site.

XFX model PV-T70G-UDF7 based on NVIDIA’s yet-to-be-released GeForce 7800 GT graphics processor is overclocked by default to 420MHz for the chip and 1000MHz for the memory, the specifications page reads. The product comes with two DVI-I connectors and supports Video-In/Video-Out as well as HDTV output, just like the GeForce 7800 GTX products. XFX GeForce 7800 GT is reported to cost $449 at the mentioned online store.

According to some earlier assumptions, NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT will be formally announced on the 11th of August, 2005.

NVIDIA is also preparing more GeForce 7-series graphics processing units. Recently it has come to attention that the company has a mentioning about the code-named G72 chip in its drivers.

NVIDIA did not comment on the news-story.

it's unfortunate that these cards are still so expensive, the 7800gt is rumor to be retail for around 400, it's funny as I think the gtx already selling close to that price.
