Cell Phone At Burglary Scene Leads To Arrest!

A cell phone found at the scene of a burglary in Ann Arbor led to an arrest early Saturday.

Police found the phone after responding to a break-in at a home in the 1300 block of Forest Court at 1 a.m., according to the Ann Arbor News.

Police said a screen had been cut to gain entry into the home.

The 29-year-old resident said he was asleep when he heard voices and someone coming up the stairs, the paper reported. Someone then opened his bedroom door and used a cigarette lighter to illuminate the room. After he called out, he heard people running down the stairs and followed to see three men exiting through a sliding glass door, police told the paper.

The culprits jumped a fence and escaped, the paper reported.

Officers found a cell phone near the fence and used it to talk with its owner, according to the paper. Police set up a meeting at a restaurant on South University Avenue and arrested two men, ages 17 and 25, after they showed up and said the phone belonged to them, the paper reported.

Authorities are working to determine if the men were responsible for the burglary.
