Intel Brings Christmas Joy To Rumah Hope

PETALING JAYA, December 21, 2006 – Intel Malaysia brought festive cheer today to the children of Rumah Hope by hosting a Christmas Party complete with Santa Claus.

The children had more to cheer when Intel Malaysia Country Manager Debjani Ghosh presented RM10, 000-00 worth of goods, in cash and kind, to Chairman of Rumah Hope Dr Christie Samuel. Rumah Hope received an Intel Core 2 Duo powered desktop computer, school bags, meal vouchers as well as RM3,875-00 in cash.

Intel Malaysia also contributed an additional RM 5,000-00 worth of goods, in cash and kind, to Rumah Hope courtesy of Bomin Chan Poh Ming, the winner of the Intel Core 2 Duo Hong Kong Bonus Vacation Contest. The contest was held in conjunction with the recently concluded PIKOM PC Fair. As part his winning entry, Chan had listed down his wish list for Rumah Hope. As a result, Rumah Hope received another Intel Core2 Duo powered desktop, laser printer and RM1, 314-00 in cash. Not to be outdone, Intel Malaysia business partners, In2 Marketing & Consulting Sdn Bhd and Wynet Solutions Sdn Bhd donated RM 5,000-00 and RM8, 000-00 in cash respectively.

“This is the season for giving and it’s our pleasure to host this party for the children and staff of Rumah Hope. We also thank our partners for joining us in trying to make a difference in the lives of these children. Most of all we’d like to take this opportunity to salute all the volunteer care providers, who selflessly give up their time to look after these boys and girls,” said Ms Ghosh.

At the event, Intel Malaysia also presented prizes to the winners of the Intel Core 2 Duo contest. Two lucky winners won a dream vacation to Bali while the Grand Prize winner, selected by Rumah Hope, won a vacation to Hong Kong in addition to having his Wish List granted by Intel Malaysia.

Rumah Hope, founded in 1984, is a shelter for children affected by abuse, illness, poverty and neglect. Run by volunteers from all walks of life, Rumah Hope provides shelter, food, care and security for children in crisis situations.

Dr Samuel said Rumah Hope relied largely on charitable contributions. “We appreciate all the contributions we receive. However, today’s PC contribution is most welcomed – it showed in the faces of the children! I can assure you that it will be fully-utilised,” he said.

LOL! Well, Intel has always been generous. So are several other companies.

But I hope the kids do not have to wait another year to receive some more support and company.
