i know nth abt cars...

hardcore games/overclockers would "need" gddr4 to get the most out of the hardware

an average users would "want" to have one but they wouldnt "need" it

Well, it's not about whether we need GDDR4 or not. It's a specialized product, so it's really a matter of whether manufacturers need it.

As they keep ramping up the memory bandwidth, yeah, I would say they would probably need GDDR4. Especially if it's easier and/or cheaper to ramp up the memory clock speed rather than the memory bus width.
