Default Office 2007 SP1 to hit Automatic Update on June 16

Quote:
Last December, Microsoft released Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2007, much earlier than was originally announced by the company. According to the documentation for the service pack, in addition to rolling together all the patches released since the product launch, the update also includes fixes for 455 issues throughout the entire Office suite.

As usual, Microsoft is providing at least 30 days notice before allowing the service pack to be distributed automatically. The company is releasing Service Pack 1 via Microsoft Update (for Vista and XP) on June 16, 2008. Not everyone will see the update on the first day though:

The availability will happen gradually and not everyone will see it at the same time. Think of the 16th as the earliest possible start of distribution and that no sooner than that date will SP1 start to become available to customers' systems via this channel. This is necessary to ensure that our service infrastructure can meet the enormous demand for the service pack.
Microsoft also added that it has seen the service pack downloaded "tens of millions" times and that it has resulted in a "very good reaction from our customers." On a related note, Microsoft has released the Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 SP1 in both x86 and x64 flavors; the list of hotfixes included is also available.
