Last Thursday (the 28th of August), we were invited to the Microsoft Malaysia's Surface Pro 3 launch at the Midvalley Gardens Theatre.

According to Mr. Sunny Ooi, Microsoft Malaysia's Director of Consumer Channels Group, Microsoft received a large number of pre-orders for the Surface Pro 3.

In fact, the pre-orders actually exceeded the allocated stocks for August and part of September. But he's glad to report that everyone who pre-ordered their Surface Pro 3 will receive theirs today!

Here's the list of the 8 authorized retailers for Microsoft Surface Pro 3 here in Malaysia.

Microsoft Malaysia will be organizing a week-long Surface Pro 3 roadshow in Mid Valley Megamall and Plaza Low Yat for those who want some hands on time with a unit.

Those who pre-ordered their Surface Pro 3 3 will receive a limited edition Surface sleeve.

This offer is still good while stocks last so you could pre-order your Surface Pro 3 today and get it too!

What can I say? Girls are always cuter and hotter when they're into tech. ;)

Finally, we were treated to a LIVE DEMO of famed Malaysian cartoonist Reggie Lee drawing a cartoon on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3! Check it out!

Our writing test on the new Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet!

We also had some hands-on opportunity with the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, and we took a look at its vaunted writing capabilities with these two videos.

Microsoft Malaysia was very proud of the fact that the Surface Pro 3's display panel was optically bonded to the Corning® Gorilla® Glass screen. This allows the pen to "write like paper" with no visible gap between the pen nib and the display itself.

However, on closer inspection, there appears to some lag in the response of the screen to the pen. Check out our first try below :

Here is the second video of our writing test on the new Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet :

Take note too that the screen can detect the pen even at a distance. You can see the pixel moving together with the pen nib. You can also see the slight lag between the movement of the pen and the display pixel.
