U Mobile Announces Milestone Expansion Plan to Enhance Network Quality

    Kuala Lumpur, 9 September 2014 – U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s most dynamic and innovative telco, announced an aggressive expansion strategy to strengthen its network through the roll-out of additional 2,000 new 3G & 4G LTE sites. This expansion reaffirms the telco’s continuous efforts of investing in its existing network infrastructure to provide superior nationwide coverage, high speed mobile Internet, as well as offering seamless connectivity to its consumers.

    Over the years, U Mobile has put continuous effort in ramping up its arsenal of network points in a bid to address escalating demand from U Mobile’s customers for more innovative, reliable and cost-effective product offerings. This major rollout will involve 1,000 3G and 1,000 4G LTE sites, targeted to complete by the end of 2015.

    High Speed Connectivity Across the Nation

    “While we may be the youngest among all the telcos, our commitment to innovation and bringing the best mobile and user experience to all our customers have certainly pushed us to achieve more in a shorter duration of time.     Once the upgrade is complete, the new network rollout will cover key cities and strategic areas within Malaysia, which include Wilayah Persekutuan, Selangor, Seremban, Port Dickson, Nilai, Ipoh, Lumut, Penang, Johor Bahru, Muar, Kluang, Segamat and Batu Pahat. By expanding its network footprint, U Mobile will be able to increase its network capacity and needs to focus on offering superior high-speed 3G and 4G LTE mobile experiences to all consumers across Malaysia.

    The expansion is also aimed at ensuring better network performance that is geared towards a new generation of consumers who are data-hungry and highly connected. Through this move, U Mobile will able to serve greater high-speed internet service to the customers that require faster and stable mobile internet access for work and leisure.

    Putting the Customer at the Centre of the Business

    As a challenger brand in the competitive mobile industry, this expansion is in line with U Mobile’s plans of driving business growth by putting the customer at the heart of its plans.     “With a total investment of RM1.5 billion, the expansion is aimed at enhancing U Mobile’s quality of service through wider network coverage while delivering the best mobile experience through more innovative products and services.” Heang Tuck also added that U Mobile is expecting to aggressively grow to a targeted market share of 10% and revenue increase of 50% by the end of 2015 when the sites are fully completed.

    In addition to the above, U Mobile recently completed an upgrade of its Business Support Systems which entailed a migration to a new billing platform that will enable end to end real-time tracking and customer fulfillment.
