Try not to run any distributed computing projects, you will find the plastic casing on your IBM will start to melt, and also a lappy is not meant to run at 100%CPU for long periods of time. Since you bought an IBM I would also invest on upgrading your warrantee otherwise you may find yourself without a computer for up to 3 months. IBM will warantee the computer and will fix it, but they have no guidelines on how long it can take. Even if it's fresh out of the box and just turned on. ![]() |

I have had a large number of IBMs break down on us and getting service, if you don't have the 24 hour replacement warrantee is painful. I had one laptop fresh out of the box go back and for for service for over 3 months. Yet with the better Warrantee I had another repaired in less than 24 hours. This is why I recommend the Warrantee. I do not like IBM and I do not like Toshiba. I think their customer service is way below PAR. I have gotten 100X better service being farmed out to India by Dell's tech support. |

My intent was not to offend you. I do not agree 'bout IBM but I do 'bout Toshiba. Many of their Satellite Pro 4600 died on us and RMAing was like hell.

No offense taken, just want to clarify. I do allot of the service calls for the annoying companies because I am able to get things done and done quickly. IBM is not a bad computer company but both IBM and Toshiba have a higher fail rate than our Dell computers and the ratio makes it much works. Dell 80% IBM 17% Toshiba 3% | |

Much lower signal to noise ratio than onboard, which is good for sound processing. 4. Haven't seen any competition to this card yet. Cons..expensive!. I just bought a PCMCIA to PCI converter card for my tower pc. When I don't use the lappy, I plug-in the Audigy card into the tower and voila!..Audigy2 sound in system..no need to buy another Audigy card. I've found it better sounding than the onboard Nvidia Soundstorm. Because I remaster audio tracks, the s/noise ratio and lower noise floor is important to me in this case. |
