I do it sometimes, but it should not be a problem. The keypad should light up properly. Well, unless the keypad you are currently using does not allow proper lighting up by the LEDs.

i do admit yellow lights are a lil dim .. change it to white .. blue is too bright in dark conditions ..

If only I can still fix the Nokia 3310 only - the keys are extremely difficult to press - need to change the main keypad...

Hmm.. You mean change the underlying key set? I think quite a few shops actually have replacements for the 3310 and have loads of experience repairing or modding them.

Old? Hmm.. It's old if it starts to get cranky... Wait. Loads of phones ARE cranky out of the box.
