Default Laptop advice...

Hello everybody.. I was wondering if I could ask for some of your wisdom regarding an upcoming laptop purchase. I am located in Canada and right now I have been looking to purchase from www.futureshop.ca . Of course I would like to spend as little as possible but I want to also get something that is fairly powerful. The computer is going to be used primarily for wireless internet, word processing, and some light gaming (but fairly new games). What makes it more complicated is that I am trying to find something that is as small and light as possible since I travel a fair bit. Other nice features would be a DVD/CD burner and bluetooth but these aren't necessities. I am posting below 5 of the models I am considering but would really really appreciate you input...

Pentium M's better than Centrino's.. so it's between the two Sony's and the cheap Compaq (Turion). Turion has a small advantage being 64bit, means it'll support next-gen OS on 64bit. but if your not planning to go Vista / Longhorn / Whatnot, Sony's your best bet.

huh what do you mean Pentium M is better than Centrino .. are you getting mixed up between Pentium M & Celeron M ? ..

Centrino = Pentuim M + Intel's WiFi solution

my friend said Turion is hot

Default SONY

I think that the 1899.99 sony laptop looks like the best out of the bunch. Have you looked at TOSHIBA Qosmio laptops? A little expensive but might last you a couple years! Lol

Centrino is a combo, not a processor!!!

Centrino has Pentium M.

It's Centrino = Pentium M > Pentium 4

Centrino mobile technology consists of three components :

1. The Intel Pentium M processor
2. The Intel i855/915 motherboard
3. The Intel PRO/Wireless 2100/2200 wireless card

Having only one or two of the three components does not allow the notebook to claim the Centrino brand. It needs to have all three components to be given the Centrino brand name.
