Hmm.. Not sure if you can actually get good notebook coolers here. Check out some of the coolers we have reviewed.

Avoid coolers like the CoolerMaster CoolPad (http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=126) and get something like the Jetart Xcool notebook coolers we reviewed. They are also marketed under the Vantec brand and probably a few other brand names too.

Waah!

Shopping for me too!!
Now thats service with a smile!

No need guys, i read the reviews on the laptop coolers. They all seem to be glorified fans who work primarily on increasing air flow around the undersides of the laptop.
From your reviews, the cheapest budget Jetart 3000 i think was the obvious choice : 11C drop in internal temp. Couldn't be beaten.

Went to the IT centre in midvalley, and managed to find the vantec version, no frills, no extra usb slots either, but the benq has a lot of usb's anyway.

So far so good. No further computer shutdowns, but it hasnt solved the slowdown problem

I play a game, it starts fine, then after 5 mins of playing, i get periodic slowdowns as if the computer was lagging and framerate drops like mad.
Funnily enough, this goes away after about 30mins into the game/level and only reappears if i reload the 3d engine.
Textures? Memory? CPU? voltage? overheat?
Weird.

Anyway, i can now continue playing as Lt. Jnr von Kubelwink, my german alter ego in Silent Hunter 3.

Danke Schon!

Hmm.. well, laptop coolers actually serve two functions.

1. Increase air flow below the notebook, as you have pointed out.

2. Prevent heat from the notebook from frying your thighs when you use it on your lap.

Yeah, you don't really need a fancy cooler. Just something that blows well. It can really cool down your notebook.

Hmm.. Nope. I'm still using the 2.04 BIOS.
