3GB is very little bandwidth.

But the way TM is going with their bandwidth shaping, I will probably downgrade to 512kbps. What's the point of getting a faster connection when they are throttling your downloads? :rol:

Sometimes I can download/upload more than 3GB per day

Exactly! My BT client can't even fully utilize the bandwidth most of the time... unless that particular torrent has a lot of local seeds

max87: actually for us, maxis is cheaper because we dont need to pay phone rental which is RM25 per month...and the first bill for Streamyx is like RM360+!! as for maxis, the first bill will only come up to RM198

and the dealer told me that the 3GB cap isnt a confirmed thing because maxis is still new and he hadn't had complaints from students around here who are avid downloaders

the good thing is, i can use it for a month on free trial, and me and my housemate is gonna go on a download RAMPAGE!! so we'll see how it goes....

But what happens after you hit the 3GB download cap? In Aus, you could either pay for the excess downloaded data, or they slow down your connection to 64kbps (thereabouts) for the rest of the month.

5.3 Excessive Usage

5.3.1 Each customer’s total usage per month shall NOT exceed 3GB of data volume transmitted (total upload and download usage). This is to ensure that no individual hogs the bandwidth at all times.
5.3.2 If a customer wishes to use more than the volume permitted, a written request should be made to Maxis.
5.3.3 Maxis reserves the right to reject the said application or charge for any additional data volume transmitted from what is already allocated.

6. Enforcement on Breach of Policy
6.1 In respect of the customers who are in violation of this Policy, Maxis may, at its option and discretion, have their bandwidth managed, service suspended or terminated (with or without notice as Maxis considers appropriate).
