Acer Gemstone vs Rest of the World

what do you think of it? (for gaming & development)

Trivia: there's 14", 15" and 17", coming soon is the 20"

pros:
the main difference between models is the graphic cards. which based on R&D, geforce 8600M GT beats all which only 15" and 20" has it. even gaming specs Asus G1s and G2s uses this card.

cons:
mostly pointed out at design, outside looks good, inside yucks!

observation:
-tried the 17" at digital mall, other places dont dare to display it, feels like plastic, though the keyboard layout is like a normal qwerty keyboard.

-DX10 cards for these gemstones are beginner's level which to see real power would be the next inline cards (geforce 8800 and HD 2400&2600)

another model suggested : Dell 820

daMind:
-planning to include OEM Vista Ultimate, 4GB RAM and OEM Standard Office 2007. seems vista home premium dont have desktop remote but found out it has though hidden, need to search for it.

Dell 820 latitude are nicely built machines. of course, it's meant for work and not quite for gaming

thanx peaz. Dell 820 brought it up coz not sure bout it plus one of MS fellows mentioned it.

this is so far i can gather for Gaming Laptops:
Acer Gemstone 15"
Asus G1s, G2s, VX1

one thing in common for gaming rig is the graphic card : currently its Geforce 8600M GT (256, 512)

any others?

You can consider Sony notebooks too. They are having a promotion where you get a free upgrade to 2GB of RAM.
