Default Toshiba Satellite - Lost WiFi connection

13/4/08

Hi, Any suggestions to fix the following?

Friend has a Toshiba Satellite and while using it; let the battery power go dead. After plugging into a 110, the WIFI connection did not come back on and the "wifi light" is now off as well. Did check the toggle switch (wifi on/off) and made sure it was in the on posisiton.

Created a new WEP key for the LinkSys Router and made sure it was correct in the Satellite. Still no luck.

Thanks for any replies.

Kind Regards,
McKela

Which OS are you using? If you're using Vista, double check in Windows Vista Mobility Center that the Wireless Network is enabled.

Also, might want to check that your wireless network adapter is working correcting via Device Manager first.

Well, the WiFi card may have powered off and may not have been turned back on.

You can try going to the Device Manager, disabling it and re-enabling it. That should do the trick.

My old Satellite 4600 Pro (WinXP) did just that. I tried everything under the sun, no luck. Ended up buying external WiFi card.
