Do you actually need it to be a phone? Or do you just need a device to surf the Internet? Can I recommend a small little netbook??

Not quite as compact but it's small enough to fit a handbag. Plus it has a proper keyboard and a larger screen.

It doesn't support 3G but if you have WiFi access...

I think he wants 3G, plus I feel that netbook is still too big.

I always find Wifi spot with my phone and launch Opera Mini or Opera Mobile depending on what I need to surf.

just out of curiousity,

do the samsung innov8, samsung omniphone and lg kc910

fall into the same category as the htc touch?

Only Samsung Omnia falls into the same category AFAIK. But the price is not. Both are powered by Windows Mobile 6.1.
