Default Help with Dell Inspiron 1420

Need help with external microphone.. been connecting it to the microphone jack but then it doesnt pick up sound.. instead it is still using the internal mic...

how ah? Using Windows Vista..

How about...

- Right-click at the speaker icon at system tray
- Choose Recording Devices
- Is the external microphone detected in the list?
- Is there a check mark at the icon
- Try right-click at the external microphone and choose Set as default device.

See if that works. If you haven't try that yet...

suprise suprise... it does!!!

no lah.. jk jk..

couldnt find the speaker icon anyways.. was poking around with the soundcard driver options.. funny option it has.. it can choose wat jacks are for wat purpose.. so I choose it as Microphone or something like tat.. then tadaaa.. it worked..

it was Sigmatel..

make sure that the driver is updated, after - reboot
