But then, lapping processor IHS really tires.
I once lapped a 930, 820 & e6600 ES IHS.
All 3 of them were concave.
Just to get the IHS to be really flat, it takes about an hour on each IHS.

Damn those guys at foxconn!

You only need to do it once though.

I've just noticed the pictures of your lapping. Shouldn't lapping be done in a figure of 8?

It only gave me 1-2C improvement in temperature, not very impressive. I already knew when I started lapping the IHS, because the unevenness of the surface isn't actually that bad. In fact it only took me less than 1 hour to even it out.
