Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

Ram: KHX3200AK2/1G (datasheet available in pdf format at http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KHX3200AK2_1G.pdf)

heres what ive got so far:

cas latency 2.0
row cycle time (trc) 8
row refresh cyc time (tRFC) ????
ras to cas delay (tRCD) 3
row to row declay (tRRD) 2
min ras active time (tRAS) 6
row precharge time (trp) 2
write recovery time (tWR) 3
write to read delay (tWTR) 1
read to write delay (tRWT) ????
refresh period (tREF) ????
read preamble value ????
async latency value ????
CMD rate 1T

Thanks for taking the time to read my questions and thanks in advance for tryin to help me out

well as far as memory timings go that I know of if you are not over clocking then keep them at the lowest settings if you can. My system only allows to adjust CAS, RAS to CAS, and one other that I can't remember. Not all BIOSs have all those timings but I can be wrong. If you can't figure it out just set your BIOS to the "Optimal" settings if it has this option. For the settings you unsure of just set them one by one till you are satisfied and your system is stable.

Here is what my settings currently look like in CPUZ

If u r not going to overclock it, why not set it to auto.

Tight timing should be:

cas latency 2.0
row cycle time (trc) 8
row refresh cyc time (tRFC) 10
ras to cas delay (tRCD) 2
row to row declay (tRRD) 2
min ras active time (tRAS) 6
row precharge time (trp) 2
write recovery time (tWR) 2
write to read delay (tWTR) 1
read to write delay (tRWT) 2
refresh period (tREF) Not sure
read preamble value 5.5
async latency value Not sure
CMD rate 1T

u can check their meaning here

Okay, i've been reading BOG and i still don't understand how to set my memory timings. I have an Epox 8RDA3 and there are quite a lot of options in the BIOS. When i was running my memory on single channel, i was able to bump my FSB to 200 which got me to 2.2Ghz. I was able to set it that high using the one of 3 default settings that came with the board from the factory. Shamefully, i just recently discovered that i could go dual channel and so i placed my other ram stick in the other bank to activate it. Unfortunately, it made my system unstable. Now i can only set my FSB to 181. I've been trying to mess with the timings and I still couldn't get it to stabilize. Any ideas from any of you geniuses would help.

Oh, and my current timings are 6-2-2-3

Did you have a dual channel memory kit in th efirst place. To wnsure stability you have to make sure you are using 2 identical sticks of memory.

dual channel memory kit? i don't know. but i do have identical Kingston Value RAMS. They're PC3200's 400mhz. at least that's what it says on the box.

The one main key to dual channel for both ram sticks have to be a matching pair/the same model/specs etc. Try different slots like 2&4 if 1&3 give you troubles.

yup, they're both completely identical. i only have three slots on my board and i used to use 2 & 3. the manual that came with the mobo says that for dual channel to work it has to be either 1 & 2 or 1 & 3. when i tried 1 & 3 before it wouldn't even start up. i'm also guessing that there might be something wrong with my motherboard 'cause when i connect the front panel USB to the pins on the board and i flick the PSU switch in the on position, everything else turns on. i guess there's a short somewhere?

Try it with minimal hardware connected. If not luck then maybe your board. Not really sure Try running memtest86 on each stick and see if you get any errors.
