Yeah - OMG this thing is way fast.

It took 7 minutes to install Windows XP Corporate...
The only problem I ran into was trying to get it to install on my SATA Drive (FINALLY figured it out after a few hours, lol).

My other computer took over an hour to copy a couple of gigs of data from one drive to another. This one took about 20 seconds. No joke. 30 seconds, maybe - tops...

Doom 3 runs like a dream!
Can't wait to try out F.E.A.R.!!!

I can't even blow my nose in the time this thing takes to reboot!

I am so in love!

The only bummer is, I got a rev 1.xx board. The BIOS is 1010.003. I guess this is the latest, eh? Anyone need a backup?

Can't wait to start Photoshoppin' and Illustratin'! ;o)

Ugh, and I found out that my Office XP Pro CD is AFU. I'm screwed without it, too... Might have to keep the other computer around for a while.

Other than that, life is sweet! Thanks again for all your guys' input - I appreciate it!

Based on my past experience(*) that's probably wrong. The correct statement is more likely:
- "Next time you want to upgrade your CPU neither s754 or s939 will do, so you'll still have to buy a new MB (and RAM) by then."

(*) - My first computer had an IBM 486SL2/66 CPU, IIRC, bought around X-mas '94. When I had the money to "upgrade" it four years later the MB could handle neither P2 CPUs, PC100 RAM nor AGP graphics cards... go figure!
- Instead I rented a Compaq Presario 5800 (IIRC, might have been called 3800). That one I could stand for two years before buying a completely new rig.
- The new one, bought around x-mas '00, had a P3, 800/133MHz. Once I considered upgrading I realised the MB maxed out at a P3, 880/133 or something like that, a minor upgrade when mainstream CPUs were running at 2GHz...
- Instead I got my current MB/CPU, an Athlon XP Palomino 1800+. My MB max out with a Thunderbread XP 2700+, and you can't find those easily today when I want a new upgrade... so I'll have to buy new CPU, MB and RAM at least! New graphics card, PSU and sound card might also be needed.

So much for "future upgrades"!

/Olle

Four years is way too long for upgrades... It'll be stone aged by then... I do it about every year / every few months...

Rule of thumb states that two years, and ur pc is obsolete anyways..

So yeah..... Like I said, 939.... 754 has already been discontinued for a64s... Whereas its still on for 939. with 939, you can still save ur CPU whereas 754, you need to change everything. So thats one less...

I've already used 2 939 processors... What applies to you does not necessarily apply to the rest. 939 is certainly the way to go, especially if you want to get a dual core in the future.
