Celeron D 331

I will get a rig with this processor.

And maybe this is the 1st Intel rig I have.

I don't know, I don't do gaming so much, so maybe Celeron is really for my whole family and me.

It has a EM64T and some kind of Execute-Disable-Bit-thingy and many other fancy stuffs.

But will Celeron do gaming as the ones in older P4 series? How does it compared to my Athlon XP 2400+?

I've checked the instructions set: SSE SSE2 SSE3 and MMX.

Where's MMX extended? Or is it called MMX only?

I heard that Intel's 64 bit is only in an emulated manner? That means it's not 100% 64bit??

All x86 processors will handle any PC applications or games you throw at it. It's just a matter of how well they run.

MMX is MMX. What you refer to as MMX "extended" is SSE, SSE2 and SSE3.

Errr. Emulated? Where did you read that?

In any case, unless you are running Windows XP 64-bit Edition and 64-bit applications, it really doesn't matter, does it?

Just purchased a Celeron D 347 two weeks ago - the 512k cache and the high clockspeeds can match several older 533FSB Socket 478's Pentium 4. I guess it could take down a Pentium 4 2.8 (533, 512k, S478) but I haven't done any kind of benchmarks that could prove it first. The Sisoft Sandra's benchmarks surpasses a few more Athlon XP 3000+ and certain older P4 (478) models.
