Default budget pc.. AMD or Pentium4?

i need to get new pc for home-use,able for surfing n lightgaming(warcraft 3 graphic enough). gonna use my old Geforce2 AGP,20GB harddisk, etc. anyone can recommend processor, mobo,RAM,power, casing? i would prefer low cost as possible as i have tight budget, this month getting digital camera.

what big difference between AMD and Pentium4? my previous desktop was AMD Duron(1Ghz pentium speed),i had used for 4 years before i got my laptop last year. it worked fine for me.

You can try the Celeron D series with MSI P4 series motherboard - if I'm not mistaken it's MSI-7071 motherboard.

socket 754 Sempron, and any 6100/6150 based motherboard will do.

I've tried the foxconn 6100 board. not bad and it allows me to oc the sempron i bought from 1.4ghz up to 1.8ghz.

a Sempron 2500+ is around RM 200.
i've just got a Bioster Nforce 6100 chipset board.

comes with onboard video, sound and LAN and also PCIE and SATA slots as well. cost around RM 240.

you could get some VIA chipset boards at below RM 200 but they come with only AGP expansion slots.

so yeah, below RM 500 is entirely possible. with that RM 300 you could get some stuff like

- 2x 512mb DDR (or 1x 1GB if you like)
- Geforce 6200 128bit version
- a new hard disk (or 2.....or 3)
- DVD-RW

ahh the possibilities are endless. however you did mention Geforce2mx. hrmm....... going AGP i guess, but do consider future upgrades and such. all the best.
