Hmm.. I don't think most of us are fanboys of any kind. There's no logical reason to be a fanatical fan of any company.

If something's good, we buy it. If it's bad, why buy it?

If u r buying a new machine,go for X2.If that seems pricey,
go r AM2.Don't go r the 754 or 939.U won't be able to upgrade ur CPU in future coz AMD have stopped manufacturing these coz AM2 & 939 r of same value in price now.If u currently have 754,939 or X2,don't upgrade, just wait for AMD Quad Core called 4x4.

AMD 4x4 is a 2x Dual Core A64FX platform It's not quad core. No point going for AM2 now, just get a C2D.

*just noticed this thread is already a few months old another thread digger LOL*

I think u've not done ur homework properly.AMD's 4x4 is a Quad Core solution.I think u know that Quad Core means 4 cores.

If u r not satisfied,go 2 these links :-

1. " http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/V...110132,00.html "

2. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/11/...ce_quad_cores/

3. " http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,12...1/article.html "

AMD's 4 core or Quad Core series r known as QuadFX series or 4x4.Got it ?

now AMD redifines quadcore as 4 cores on a motherboard ??
then dual core & quad core exist long time ago ........

now people refer quadcore as 4 cores on a single package

but amd's 4x4 is not a true quadcore ... because its in 2 package ..

so AMD does have quadcore.. but not a quadcore CPU

I didn't do my homework properly...boohoo LOL

Like zy said, now people refer quad core processor as 4 cores on a single package AMD 4x4 is 2 dual core processor platform, there are four cores, but not on a single package. So, you can't call that a true quad core. Heck, even AMD themselves claim that Intel's QX6700 (which is four cores on a single package) is not a true quad core solution because they simply stick 2 dual core together.

Maybe you should go read properly.

The 4x4 solution that was reviewed everywhere else has dual socket motherboard, because it's the processor is only a dual core, which means it requires another dual core to make it a 'quad core' solution.

Read properly condemning others.

Man, you have got to stop reading just from Tom's.

No offence to Tom, but there are THOUSANDS of other tech sites from which you can double-check your facts.

Honestly, the AMD 4x4 CANNOT be considered a quad-core processor, even in the loosest sense. It makes use of TWO separate dual-core processors. At least Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX6700 (http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...tno=356&pgno=0) has both cores sitting on the same package.

Quad-core = 4 x cores inside a chip.

2 x Dual-Core isn't really quad-core - it's two dual-cores chip on one motherboard.
