i dun understand it too..
it says a small pulse of energy increases the temp to 2000C,
how's that suppose to do COOLING?

It took me a while to understand this too, but I think I've figured it out...

The last bullet line here says: "Greater thermal conductivity"
Hence it's just a method to get a better thermal coupling beween the chip and the heat spreader.

actually last time intel rumoured to intergrated a 1-molecule wide waterpipe in its core to assist in cooling...
