Would you go to all that trouble to get 10 more fps in HL2? Then switch back to get 10 more fps in Doom 3/Quake 4? And during that time, the other card will be sitting idle. Why waste money? In the first place, you might as well have spend that money to get a card powerful enough, to do the job well regardless of the game.

Just for query. Can we use one Nvidia & 1 ATI in a single mobo ?
It's possible as long as there are two PCIe slots for two graphics card but they got disabled in the drivers as usual

That's probably the dumbest thing I've heard...

Yup, this process is only useful when u have two cards at ur hand but u've not bought all of them. Suppose, u do already have an ATI x1600 on ur mobo & u've got an Nvidia 7600GT by participating in a contest like ARP or u've just received it as a gift.Won't u wish to try that card in ur machine 2 see that if the card u got is better than ur current card or not.

Squeezing out another 10 FPS and spending some few hundred dollars is a little bit akward.

For another few hundred dollars minus the 10 FPS, you can get some more RAM, or a better PSU or a larger, faster Hard-disk.

The only nice thing to have SLi is to use two VERY good graphics card together, like double 8800. One good graphics card can beat two lower-end ones in quite less than double of the price.

Just my two cents. (Well, I have only two cents in my wallet now too. Saving all the money for the next budget rig so that I can do a review to this site. And pun intended. )

Double 8800 !!! . Hmmm, a bank robbery will be needed to make it happen.
