but thats for 64bit OS

so RAM might still be limited..

as CPU gets faster .. bloody programs takes more CPU power & RAM .. in the end of the day .. RAM is still limited

10 year back 250MB of RAM is something

$530 or not most users won't have a use for a quadcore CPU; especially gamers since games barely take advantage of dualcore CPUs.

Quadcore won't be in my future anytime soon.

Well, the current quad core processors are never meant to be for mainstream use.

Maybe they are for industrial and research/development only. Biotech/bioinformatics need very fast computers too, and some engineering programs like those aircraft design stuff...

Well, they are useful for those who can really make use of multiple processors, like those who do video editing and 3D rendering.

not only that, I think for average users like us, having dual core also helps multi-tasking. Believe me, even though software is not optimized for dual core, it really does feels less lags. In fact, I think often it's the HD that's holding the system back.
