Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | From Intel P35 Express, FSB1333 and DDR3 (page 6: P35 Express – PCI Express) - BeHardware On paper, the P35 doesn’t appear too much different from the P965 in terms of PCI Express management. The MCH manages 16 lines, which are only attributable to a single peripheral. This is in contrast with the 975x, which can manage 2x8 lines. The second PCI Express x16 port that we find on some motherboards actually uses the ICH’s four PCI Express lines . This of course has a non negligible impact on performances in certain cases. ........ 3DMark06, representing a graphic load that is closer to games of the last generation, is affected but to a lesser extent. However, the difference between a x4 and x16 port allow a performance gain from 27 to 29%! As you can see, it is really unfortunate that Intel didn’t do better than a x4 on a second PCI Express port. The solution used for the i975x, dividing its 16 lines between two peripherals, is more advantageous, because the impact of a single x16 port on gaming performances is low. So the conclusion you better choose the 965 mainboard with config of 1x PCI-E 16x, and the other is 4x PCI-E 1x.... Any comment and suggest??? |

So it really depends on your standpoint. Quite frankly if there is no difference, I would still take the newer chipset (no sense in dishing out for old hardware). Also the Asus Blitz P35 mobo has 8x 8x crossfire.

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | Actually my problem is... I'm about building NLE using DFI Inf P965-S, which is its x16 slot use for RADEON 2600 XT and its x4 slot is for AJA Xena LHE Card with Avid Liquid Chrome XE. But refer to my first post, is it a bandwidth suffer due to "Crossfire" will affect the perfomance of both cards,.... or even this configuration (Crossfire) won't work at all becaue it is not a pair of same GPU? |

What's more, to setup such system, you should worry more about first, your storage I/O and second, the stablity and performance of the driver, than anything else.
