noob: sata hd replacement

greetings.

I've got my hardware noob question of the month:

my toshiba laptop M30 Hard Disk just drop dead and I've bought a new hard drive for replacement.

but it's a SATA one.

and the old one was ATA.

...any chance to find some kind of adapter for a laptop, even with dissasembly or am I just doomed and have to forget this new HD?

Thanks for any answer, I felt a LITTLE bit disappointed as I've opened the HD trap today....

I don't think there'll be enough space for a converter. There may be but so far, I've never come across one. Just my 2cents..

Can't you take it back to the shop and change to a PATA one?

yeah, usually there isnt enough space for the convertor.

exchange it

if you cant exhange it, but a ATA version and use your SATA as external hard disk

yes, adapters seems all to big, for laptops anyway; maybe I'll keep it as external hard drive: it was a good deal.

I have the same laptop... and there's absolutely no place for an adaptor.
