pentium 4.

    hey guys,

    i got some used pentium 4 + mobo.

    gonna use the 3.2ghz pentium 4. but which mobo is better?

    Asus P4P800 Deluxe
    MSI 865PE Neo-V

    :mrgreen: i got 2 used pcs to play with. just dont have the hard disk & optical drives :p

    Asus P4P800. It is a cool board - my friend bought it a long ago and is a very rock solid board! :)

    i go so many free parts to play with :)

    5 sticks of 512MB DDR
    2.4(or 2.8 not so sure) Pentium 4
    3.2Ghz Pentium 4
    Asus P4P800
    MSI 865PE Neo-V
    Thermaltake 430W
    Nvidia 6600
    Radeon 9250

    :party: can build two PCs but just lack of power supply and hard disk :p

    Pentiums run hot just put a good cooler on it .. retiring my Prescott to the server machine soon @3.4G :thumb:

    LOL. too bad the P4 are pretty hot chips. but both would still be nice to be set up as a NAS. Woohoo. :D

    True peaz and I forgot to mention I would also choose the ASUS board out of the two :)

    Cool and make sure you have a good CPU cooler and case cooling anything Pentium is nasty hot like this Prescott. Intel has really done a lot with power consumption and heat on the duos and latter series of CPU's.

    Been playing around a bit for my server machine and decided to use a Northwood Celeron I have here with a Katana2 cooler. Its 2.6G but have it O/Ced to 3.2G stable and here are my temps on it .. not bad :mrgreen:

    Oh Boy, i still have one of those Asus runing at home, its my wife box :) long time runing without a problem
