Default Athlon X2 6000+ > Phenom X3 8600B?

...trying to determine what's the best CPU for gaming between the X2 6000+ (dual-core, 3Ghz) and the X3 8600B (tri-core, 2.3Ghz).

The benchies that I have seen seem to provide a clear win for the 6000+...only one that I saw showed a minor benefit to the X3. I don't honestly expect that at any time in the forseeable future that 3 slower cores will be better than 2 faster cores...thoughts?

Oh - right now these are both available for ~$110. So thereby a comparison is warranted.

The 6000+ is better for gaming, the tri core would be better for encoding.

I'd get the tricore, and BTW if you go for the x2 make sure it's the 89w not the old (and hotter 125w
