I already point and laugh at serious memory overclockers due to the ~1-2% (being generous here) performance difference between low speed DDR2 and high speed DDR3, now it's time to choke with laughter, fall over and die when someone does it.

i7 has on-die memory controller like A64/Phenom. Not because of DDR3.
