Default Celeron Dual-Core : Approaching

Celeron Dual-Core News

First I thought the Sempron X2 gonna come to the markets, but now, the Celerons are making a comeback - this time they are putting two instead of one.

No more single cores perhaps? And they might be using the stripped downed Pentium Dual-Core with lower cache and lower speeds.

That ones will certainly kill Pentium 4 and all the Celerons all together if they release it.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I got some special updates!

Intel Specs of Celeron Dual-Core

It's there already, but the news said that it'll be in Jan 20 2008.

Strange as it seems that I thought Intel's gonna push away the Celerons in the future, but they ARE improving them instead.

edit: The E1200 looks pretty identical to the E2140 except the cache size is halved.

AFAIK the Pentium Dual-Core was based on Allendale, same as the E4xxx series but the new Celeron is based on Conroe.

and Why even maintain the Celeron name? Pentium Dual-Core E1200 or whatever still sounds nicer.

Well, they gonna fight with the AMD's low-end processors too.

At the very least this IS the first time I heard of such improvements on a budget processor.

I bet this thing works best in office computers. Home computers will benefit a little bit more on the Pentium Dual-Core.

Are they in LYPlaza now? Hey Mr. Fries, why not check out on these new Celerons?

Celeron always denotes "value-line" processors. Somehow, I don't think they will drop the name. It is quite a strong brand name.

Now I like that particular celeron.

before that they are quite uh... not that good.

The earlier 775 Celerons are medicore in performance. 256K cache, and 533FSB isn't helping much.

Then the 512K ones are better (347 onwards maybe), but it's still in the Cedar Mill with Netburst.

And now they are adding another core to it, and with the newer Conroe core. It sounds like "Buy 1 free 1" !!
