The Technology and Engineering Emmy Award comes as the console manufacturer also revealed it has shipped one million units of its PlayStation 3 to North American retailers.

"The overwhelming consumer demand and critical acclaim for PS3 is testament of the platform's strength and the industry's desire for a true next-generation entertainment system," commented Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America.

"The full potential of this powerful machine has yet to be realised. What you've seen so far is just a taste of what will be on the table for 2007 and years to come," he added.

The Sixaxis controller has added motion sensing technology to re-define the original Dual Shock controller, detecting natural, real-time movements, along with input via pressure sensitive buttons, analogue sticks and triggers.

Sony's PlayStation 3 has also picked up the CES Best of Innovations Award for 2007, PC World's 20 Most Innovative Products Award, Sound and Vision's Editor's Choice Award and a Digital Innovation Award from the Digital Entertainment Group.

I really love the SIXAXIS controller. Light, wireless, superb battery life (played on a 8 hour streak yesterday and didn't drop a bar.) However if you buy one, Sony (still) being Sony doesn't give you the USB wire for it (even though it costs like 50 bucks...

)

A PS3 is in my opinion the best console out there...

Anyway the PS3 is awesome. Can't wait to get one once the price gets back to normal.

Well I don't really care much about the vibration..

Its a lot lighter now...

I'll post a pic for you tomorrow morning chai.. Its 1am here right now and I just finished some soldering work (for my RC) so I am pretty worn out...

I promised you some pics Chai so here they are...

It has a gyro in it that detects movement (hence Six Axis) and the four LEDs shows which channel that the controller is on (you can connect up to seven controllers to the PS3.) The USB input is to charge the unit (and also will work wired with the USB connector.)

The new button (the PS3 button) is a button that you can press and hold in game to quit, reassign controllers, or turn the PS3 off.)

Like I said, it has superb battery life.

Looks exactly like the first Dual Shock from outside.
