Great Article!!

I'm itching to try this mod

Ok.. here is what I want to verify:

I'm running at 9800Pro with a r360 w/ 128MB Ram. I should use the 9800XT vmod and not 9800 vmod guide, right?

Also here are a few questions:

1. Also, where do I get the variable resistors that is used in the guide? Radioshack doesn' thave this style of Resistors. If you can point me to an online store, that would be great.

2. What was the max OC you were getting before and after the mod?

SAD

Hello SuAsDu,

Yes, you should use this guide if you have a Radeon 9800 Pro with the R360 GPU and 9800XT PCB.

As for the other questions, I will leave it to Max_87. But I'm sure RadioShack or your local electronics store should have variable resistors.

10k pot, its the round looking twisty thing right? I've seen those and they don't look as cool, or easy to install and mount as the ones used on this post.

I need to find a decent electronic store to go to.

Edit:

Oh.. I have'nt yanked out my 9800Pro yet. It's water cooled, so it's a pain to remove it.

So wanted to ask. Its is possible to have a r360 w/ a 9800PCB and not XT pcb?

Yup, of course! You need to refer to 9800 Pro mod guide if that's the case. http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle....108&pgno=0

So the key to the vmod is which board its on, and not the GPU, right?

Ok.. I got two of the blue variable resistors.

The ones I got are called Trimmers, is that righT? Looks the same. I got a 10k and a 20k. Here is what I don't understnad, one is called 15 turn and the other 25 turn. Sounds lame, but what does that mean?

Also the guide mention I should start w/ the most resistance. From looking at the top, is that rotating it clockwise or counter to increase resistance?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm not an electrical guru or protray one on tv. But I have ok soldering skills.

Thanks again for all your help.
