GENEVE WROTE ::
The PSU gets a bit hot when you touch at the back. Is that normal??

-------------------------------------------

I was thinking the same, it becomes hot as hell, first i thought the fan did not worked, but it does, it is extremly silent.

From old experiences I know that a PSU can be extremly hot , before it breaks down. I had my old PSU working with a defect fan several years, the "non iron" parts even melted, works perfectly even today.

I'll receive my "coffee" in a couple of days and I - of course - will come back to let you know about it. But I have already one practical question: with Instant On you can play DVDs, mp3s and CDs without starting the OS. OK, this is quite clear but if I want to play for instance a mp3 which is on the HD or to have a photo on the screen which is also on the HD, then Instant On won't work, isn't it?
Ciccioniti, you can access your hard disk for mp3's. Just select which hda your mp3's are on and you can play them in instant on. The photo function doesn't work in instant on though...

I find that the instant on software is rather slow and doesn't work as well as it could. I'm thinking of scrapping that altogether and installing a better video card so I can game and still use the home theater software for my multimedia needs. Anyone doing this? Any suggestions?

Cool No Instant-On, but MCE

Hello all

I have my S-presso for a couple of month now and I got very annoyed by the poor quality of the tv-picture.

I decided to get rid of the instant-on and the tv-card. I put in my Radeon 9600 Pro and use my "old" Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2. I switched from XP Home to XP MCE and now my baby rocks

Of course, I was stupid to by the Deluxe-Version in the first place if I don't use to instant-on and the included TV-card. But for me it was an evolution. I still like the idea of the instant-on. But the quality is to poor for me. Also the Home Theater Software is way to complicated to configure. With the MCE I have a real EPG with which I can work. The Asus-Remote is almost fully compatible to MCE so this is a little bonus with the Deluxe version.

I found out, that if I don't turn of my PC but put it to "hibernation" I have almost the Instant-on feature.

The S-Presso is the best thing for a Multimedia-PC because it's so quiet. With the MCE I now have a Software which is really great to use.

Still, I'll keep looking at this forum for solutions concerning the Instant-On. Maybe it will be possible to change hardware with it to increase the Quality.

MCE is the abriviation for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. It is a advanced Version of Windows XP. It has an integrated "Home Theater"-Software and is controlled by the remote control. For more Informations check out http://www.thegreenbutton.com/ or http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...r/default.mspx it's really great. With the Intervideo solution I wasn't really happy. But MCE is exactly what I was looking for.

Microsoft XP - Media Center Edition (MCE)

The winfast tuner card isn't compatilble with MCE however so unless you have an AIW or a supported tuner it won't work. I must say MCE's interface is much smoother...

Naw, but instant on has nothing to do with which version of OS you're using.

Has anyone running well the winfast pvr? The video device don't recognize in TV mode. But with the radio yes. So where is the problem? Compatibility? Directx version?
