Most unfortunately, the graphics card companies are artificially pricing the cards at such ridiculous prices. The only way for us to bring down the price would be for EVERYONE in the community to refuse to pay such prices. Once they see there's no demand for such expensive cards, they will be forced to reduce the prices.

Reputation: 197 ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 9 | yeah, all the companies release their new product at an insane high price, but the price will sure drop, look at 7800, it has droppped like 100 since it's launch. I am sure with ATI's release of new card, nvidia will drop it even further. Still even that drop is still too much for me. I just can't justify buying 1 component that's more than some whole pc system out there |

Even if NVIDIA drops the price of the 7800 GTX GPU, it's not really going to affect the cost of the cards much. Most of it is due to the profit margin the graphics card companies wish to maintain for these top-of-the-line cards. As long as there's demand for these cards at these insane prices, they will continue to maintain the price.

Reputation: 197 ![]() ![]() Rep Power: 9 | that's true Adrian, however, if ATI pressure the price with their new card, I am sure nvidia will drop the price. Right now, Nvidia is enjoying being the leader of the card and the since ATI can't compete with it yet, they can maintain such price. The demand for 7800 is alwasy high and I think being able to do SLI makes it even more desirable, however, I hiope nvidia will not do what it has done with 6800 and make many people who buy it for SLI but don't have the card when they release new card. The ATI's crossfire is a bit better design with 2 diff card in case the market is changed to a better/faster card but yo ucan still keep older card for the slave and use the newer one for master. |
