Hi there!

I'm Nivedh, I reviewed this board over at Overclockers Online.

It seems you have run into a slight problem with the detection of your SATA drive. I too had the problem with my Seagate 7200.9 160GB SATA II drive.

I resolved the problem by setting the following options in the BIOS, under the "Chipset IDE Devices" submenu:

nV/ULI SATA: Enabled
nV/ULI RAID Function: Disabled
nV/ULI SATA Mode Select: Emulated PATA Mode

Here's an image from my review that visually shows the options:

Hope that resolves your issue. I'm looking forward to seeing your complete review!

Good to hear. I still have some issues with overclocking though, it won't let me go past 265 HTT. It might be a BIOS issue.

Did they send you a new BIOS revision?

Nope, they did not.

265HTT? That's weird. This board I have here actually did better than my Asus A8R-MVP in terms of HTT overclock

Why do you want to remove the heatsink??? Anyways....

Try put the whole mobo in the freezer. After the whole thing is frozen then try twisting the passive heatsink (and pry a little bit), see if you could manage to get the heatsink off. Just give up if you had applied a lot of force and still cannot get the heatsink off the chip. and remember, DO NOT pry too hard Otherwise you know what would happen.

I've seen people use this to their TNT2 before to remove the heatsink. I actually tried this on my TNT2, but I did not manage to remove the heatsink

EPoX sent me the passive version initially (which I had to send back and then they sent me an actively cooled version) and I removed the chipset heatsink on that with no problems. It requires some time and effort, however. I just started by twisting the heatsink without any upward pressure. Then, I slow applied upward pressure while twisting. Finally, it popped off but there was a lot of pink epoxy all over the place.

Just be careful if you want to remove it. Are you planning on upgrading to an active cooler? If so, note that the board has a 2-pin proprietary header.
