Also get a cpuz link up (like the one in my forum sig) and a screenie of your settings while priming (showing load and time elapsed). We can help you improve things and you can share your settings with everyone (the wonders of a community! All the best! LMAO! Well if you waited that long and it failed, its time to pwn bishes in games. LOL!

Reputation: 0 ![]() Rep Power: 0 | I have read articles and searched the web about OCing. I recently built a system: Asus Maximum Formula MB E6850 4GB (2X2) Kingston hyperX ddr2 800 (pc6400) XFX GTX8800 1000w PSU Zalman 9700 My question is what is the first thing you change in the bios when starting to OC. I am really new to the OCing world so please go slow. With this setup I thought I should be able to OC with no problem. Is there a site or book that could shed some light on how to OC properly? Thanks! |

Basically: Front Side Bus x Multiplier = Speed However, when you increase the FSB, you are not only increasing your processor speed. Your mainboard chipset and ram will be overclocked too. For E6850, it would be 333 x 9 = 2997MHz, round it up and it'll be 3GHz. This is the stock settings for E6850. Attached is a CPU-Z screenshot of my overclocked E6850, take a look at the FSB and multiplier 434 x 9 = 3906MHz I increased the FSB from 333MHz to 434MHz, when multiplied with the multiplier, I get 3906MHz. However, it doesn't just magically runs at any FSB that you set, depending on how much you overclock, you might or might not require to increase the voltage in order to maintain the stability. In my case, I increased the voltage to 1.43v. To understand overclocking you will at least need to do some reading and there is no way I can explain everything to you in just a few paragraph. There is a lot more to learn and understand than just bumping up the FSB to overclock your processor. Here's a pretty comprehensive overclocking guide that is aimed for beginners: http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...beginners.html Go read up part 1 first and try to understand the very basics for C2D overclocking. If there is anything that you don't understand in the guide, feel free to shoot us any questions here and we will try our best to answer them
