Default The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Overclocking Report

The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 is now a legendary processor for overclocking. It has allowed more overclockers to achieve the magic 4.0 GHz than any other Core 2 Duo processor.

Join PsYkHoTiK, Chai and Max_87 as they each pick up the legendary Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 processor and see who is the best overclocker in Team ARP.

Here's a quote from the guide :-
Quote:
"Overclocking over the past few years has become an increasingly popular endeavor for many people. In a sense, it's a good thing that our favorite past time here at Tech ARP is reaching out to the masses. For some people, overclocking is a balance between achieving the impossible and everyday usability. Yet others can really go nuts on it. The guys here at Tech ARP are a little bit of both."

That's a really nice overclock on air. What's the temp like?

Could have been PsYkHoTiK's memory modules. His original OCZ Reapers got busted. He will be retesting once he gets them back from OCZ.

4.5GHz with watercooling? Are you serious? We are talking about Prime95 stable here, not just bench-able or for suicide shots.

Did you test your PC with Prime95? Games don't stress CPU that much.

Yeah, it should be tested with Prime95 before it can be really called stable.

Yup, that's the one. The charts are showing the benchmark results. We only use the torture test to test the stability of our system.

File attached, get it here This is the multi threaded version for multi core processors.

I can boot and bench well over 4GHz and let it run just fine. It would fail prime like 4-5hours later though.

A point we made was to use low voltage as well.

So there you have it.
1) Lowest voltage possible
2) mutiple 12 hour and maybe a single 24 hour prime (rock solid). No concessions were made for stability.

Wow... I can't wait to do a 3GHz on a E4300 if I got it cheap...

With the BSEL mod, and an overclocking board.
