    Dashken Administrator!

The Intel X38 Express is the new hot chipset on the block. Not only is it the first Intel chipset to support PCI Express 2.0, it is also the first Intel chipset to allow two PCI Express graphics cards to run at X16 speeds.

However, its reign will not be a long one. Intel will be launching the X48 Express chipset very soon and with it, two new Intel Core 2 processors that support the 1600 MHz FSB speed.

    Here's a quote from the editorial :-

Are you sure? I thought even the 975X supports 2 16X PCIE lanes.

Nope. It only supports 16 PCI Express lanes. Hence, it can only run at one full-speed, 16-lane port... or two 8-lane ports.

Hehe.. That's the Extreme edition what.. You are "expected" to use water cooling. :haha: :haha:

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, the Core 2 Extreme QX9775 is supposed to be used in the Intel Skulltrail system.

No thanks, I will skip this gen, even though I have high end water cooling.

Next gen? That would be Nehalem late next year. New architecture.

Doesn't matter. E6850 is more than sufficient. Saving the earth!

Oh, if you already have the E6850, of course you don't really need the new Core 2 Duos. :D

But I have to say that SSE4 is really impressive...

SSE4 impressive? Doesn't that require software support?

Yup, but many software companies (e.g. Adobe, DivX) are already working on SSE4 support because it really offers a tremendous boost in performance.
