If you have been waiting for Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, well, you can now mark your calender. We just received word that Microsoft has scheduled Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for release to manufacturer (RTM) NEXT WEEK!

That's for the regular security patches I think.

I heard that they don't want it to coincide with Patch Tuesday to avoid unforseen problems.

You may not see anything today. From what our source tells us, this is the date Microsoft is going to release Service Pack 1 to manufacturing. It doesn't necessarily mean they are releasing it to the public.

Of course, we are hoping they will... but they may not. For all we know, it's just officially RTM today and shipped to OEMs through the week with a public release when wave 1 (with full language support) is ready.
