I'd like to put in a request:

Can you make the benchmark easy so that we can import the latest builds of x264.exe for testing?

Earlier I tried 264.exe version 987, renamed it to 817 and substituted it into the test folder, but it didn't work.

Substituted? You cannot just replace the executable.

It's really quite easy. Just delete the folder and extract the files out to a new folder.

I use a 780i A1 mobo e8400 @ 4.00 w/4x1GB dominators 9800GX2 Vista Ultimate x64 Sp1 UAC always disabled OS resides on C:\ and ProgramFilesDir on E:\ All current updates and drivers

I downloaded and ran Avisynth_257.exe (Standard Install)

Extracted x264_Benchmark_HD_v2.0.rar to a folder
3 files and one folder appear within the new folder:
  • Test (folder)
  • Instructions and details @ TechARP
  • Link to download Avisynth
  • x264_benchmark-720p.vbs
DBl clicked x264_benchmark-720p.vbs
A cmd prompt window appears and says:
Attention: Avisynth 2.5.7 not found on this machine.

In that order

Since that I have tried to run the Avisynth_257.exe as adminstrator and gone in to properties and unblocked still no joy

I searched the All programs list and found the AviSynth 2.5 folder no exe to start and run it is there.

Re-Installed still no joy I assume by the instruction this runs in the background but since it's not working for me I went poking around.

I searched the C:\Program Files (x86)\AviSynth 2.5 folder for an exe again no joy.

Please advise what I could be doing wrong.

That doesn't explain how I can use the latest x264.exe to work in this benchmark. The .vbs and .bat files call on "x264-747.exe" and "x264-819.exe" in the test. How can I make it call "x264-987.exe" instead of 819?

Try 2.5.8 RC. It also worked for me. Also install for all users.
