The x264 HD Benchmark is the “High Definition version” of the x264 Benchmark which has become a standard CPU benchmark for Tech ARP as well as many other hardware enthusiasts. The new x264 HD Benchmark ups the ante by using a new 720p24 high-definition video clip. Therefore, it will be a great test of the processor’s ability to encode HD quality video streams. Give it a try and let us know how your processor fares! Here's a quote from the article :- Quote:

btw it does make more sense for a 1080p HD Benchmark like say a MPEG2 1920x1080i to 1920x1080p x264 but its nice there is some x264 benchmark tools for review sites Last edited by wiak : 6th Apr 2008 at 04:50 PM. | |

To answer your questions, I did 720p since most if not all broadcast HD is 720p. 1080p is out there on discs and some broadcasts, but it's not the norm. I didn't wanna do a 1080i --> 1080p conversion either since I wanted it to be as much x264.exe as it could be without extra avisynth plugins running to deinterlace/IVTC, etc. |
