Default Performance Improvements In Crysis 1.2

After taking a look at the performance improvements in Crysis 1.1, we decided to take a look at the performance improvements in Crysis 1.2 as well.

After all, the Crysis 1.2 patch is over 361MB in size. Tack on the Crysis 1.21 hotfix, that’s a massive download of 398MB. Is the new patch worth the download? Read on and find out.

Here's a quote from the article :-
Quote:
"This is a massive patch, weighing over 361 MB in size. The long list of tweaks and improvements underlie the numerous changes that the Crytek team felt were necessary after the first patch. Of course, they are now working on Patch 1.3. That should tell you just how much work was left over since Crysis went gold."

Nice job on the article ChampionLLY

Looking through the tests and reading the conclusions I think I also feel that performance should be more of a focus than fixes for all the features listed in this patch.

A slight improvement in FPS is good but what good is fixing small details in the gameplay if people with standard to high end systems still can't run it smoothly

Ohh PPS: + rep

Somehow I feel that Crytek does not really feel there is a need to really improve performance.

I think so too, they seem to pay more attention towards bug fixes..

Hehe.. Crytek is tight with NVIDIA. Poor performance = need for higher-speed (and more expensive) graphics cards.
