No but as long as Rivatuner supports it, it should not be a problem.

Hi guys was hoping you could tell me if the 9800gt will softmod to an FX3700? i see it is still a G92, does being D8E and not D8P (8800gt) make any difference? I can't seem to find anyone on the internet that has commented about the 9800gt being modded.

Thanks

It should be possible, although the GeForce 9800 GT is built on a new 55nm process. Not sure if that affects anything...

New to the board and totally confused reading this.

I see where it said in the beginning that it was feasible to softmod an 8800 into a FX4600.

Then I saw a post saying that Nvida has laser cut the 8800's so you cannot softmod them.

Then I have seen the conversation continue like it is still possible to softmod them.

My work is looking to purchase 2 FX4600's for design work and if we can save the $$$$ and get 2 8800's that would be great.

So can someone please clairify for me if it is feasible still to softmod an 8800?

If so, what model is the best to do so (seems the 8800GTS or higher) and does it matter if it's a G80 or G92 chip?

Thank you so much!

msu, as mentioned in the guide, there is not a 100% guarantee that the mod will work. We have already shown you which mods have worked and the improvements noted by the successful modders.

So, to answer your question, yes, it is possible to softmod a GeForce 8800 card. You can already see that if you read the guide and the testimonials by successful models. So far, it looks like only G80-based cards are being modded. Hopefully, someone with a G92 card will test it out and let us know if the soft-mod works for them too.

Edit : After re-reading your question, it sounds as if you have not read the guide. Please check it out here - Tech ARP - NVIDIA GeForce To Quadro Soft-Mod Guide Rev. 3.1

Hello papi,

I'm not sure but if you check Tech ARP - Mobile GPU Comparison Guide Rev. 7.5 you will see that your graphics card is using the G96M GPU. AFAIK, there's no Quadro based on the G96M at this moment.

Odd. I thought the GeForce 9500M GS was based on the G96M.

If that is the case, you can give it a try. It's a softmod. You can always revert to GeForce.

Good luck and let us know if you succeed!!
