No. As I said, it's a softmod, basically modding the Quadro driver to run on a GeForce.

Are you sure that's all you need to enable Quadro optimizations for GeForce cards???

Hi there Gurus!

I´m a new architect, building my own Workstation.

With this great thread I found, that is possible to convert a "simple" Ultra (8800) in a expensive Quadro "Beast" (FX4600).

I did all that your guide says, with the GPUZ, Rivatuner and with the Quadro driver, etc. But when boot the 3ds Max 09 appears this:

"ERROR
loading of custom driver failed.
Forcing null driver mode."

Something failed??

(I´m using Vista x64)

Thanks for your help and attention. (and forgive my eng...)

Hey all!

First up, thanks to Dashken for posting this, and thanks to everyone who's contributed to the effort thus far! There's a lot of mis-information out there on this subject, but by far this is where I've found the least bs on the subject!

My laptop has the 9600M-GS card in it with 1gb of DDR2. From my research the 9600M-GS shares the same G96 core with the Quadro FX 770M. So that's good, there's an equivalent Quadro out there for me.

My first snag so far is early on in the process. I'm using RivaTuner v2.11 and there is no "Low Level System Tweaks" tab when I hit the little arrow next to "Customize" in the "Target adapter" section. It just isn't there.

Now, I've read a few times in this thread that there may be issues using RivaTuner with Vista. Is that where my issue with not having the "Low level system tweaks" is coming from? Or is there a different version of RivaTuner out there that I should be using?

Thank you all very much for your help so far!

Low level system settings is the same as low level system tweaks. When you click low level system settings a window will open called "Low-level system tweaks". I missed it the first time too

No dice there, either. This is what I've got for buttons:

Low-level refresh rate settings
Low-level desktop color schemes
Graphics subsystem diagnostic report
Hardware Monitoring.

So far, in my research, I've found this out:

Vista does not really support nvstrap for some sort of driver/security/certification reason or other. Allegeldy, you can manually put the nvstrap.sys file in it's correct location and tweak the registry entry accordingly...

I'm going to chase this angle down as best I can, hopefully we can add this information to the original directions so others don't have to go through what I'm doing here!

Hmm that's weird, i'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit with an EVGA 8800GTS 640MB.

Are you using 64-bit? Because there might be some problems with the drivers, since 64-bit requires signed drivers which RivaTuner needs. You have to press F8 while booting and select to boot with signed driver enforcement disabled and reinstall.
