Are there any side by side benchmarks of a geforce softmodded to quadro and a real quadro card? (My previous question was phrased poorly)

So a real quadro is ~2x faster than a softmodded one in these 3D apps?

Well heres the thing, you gotta think about it in price. The 8800 GTX oc2 I bought was for 150$. New, it would be 800$ at the time. The equivalent card, being the 4600 quadro, would probably have been around 3,000$ new, now it sells for about half that (1,500$). I'm playing around with the quadro 1700 which is the 8800, so its within the same range or so I take it from the specs from tomshardware.com/reviews/quadro-fx-4800,2258.html. the 1700 is about 400$ from supplier which I could get, and 600$ retail right now. At about half the quality of the 600$, for which I got was 150$. It ain't too bad. But I would love to use the performance drivers. But for 3Ds max and photoshop CS4, this might just be enough for the time being.

Default NVIDIA GeForce To Quadro Soft-Mod Guide Rev. 4.1

The NVIDIA Quadro family of professional graphics cards are very, very expensive. But everyone knows that Quadro and GeForce graphics cards are virtually identical in hardware.

Obviously, you cannot just use Quadro drivers with your GeForce graphics cards. However, there is an easy way to soft-mod (modify in software) an NVIDIA GeForce desktop graphics card into an NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics card. We will show you just how to do it in this guide.

Not only that, we have also a new page with performance results from the soft-modding of an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX to the Quadro FX 4600 and a comparison of that soft-modded card with a true NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700. Read on and find out!

Thanks
It is "possible" but unless someone actually tests it out, we will never know.

Ditto. I'm planning to get a GTX 260 or a GTX 285 rather than a 8800 GTS. Can anyone verify if they can be modded to a FX 4800 or a FX 5800 (according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_Quadro#PCI_Express that's their equivalents)?
