The NVIDIA G92 GPU is a phenomenal GPU because it's a fast and power-efficient GPU. Even after NVIDIA officially launched their new GT 200 series of graphics cards, they still managed to squeeze a little more out of the G92. Today, NVIDIA officially launched the last member of their GeForce 9 family - the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ (Plus). Link : ED#94 : NVIDIA Launches The GeForce 9800 GTX+
Just slightly faster core clock. That's it. IMHO, they could at least have tried boosting the RAM speed as well.
But the difference is negligible, and most games are really stressing on the core these days, like Crysis etc. With PsyhX, the core will run harder than ever. That's why G92 is as fast as 8800 GTX despite the 384bit 256bit difference. Just a bump on the core speed is all it takes.
Unfortunately, there aren't enough GPU-accelerated PhysX titles to matter much yet. I don't see PhysX acceleration on the GPU taking off fast enough for this GT200 generation either. I think NVIDIA would have launched their next gen cards by the time there are significant software titles that can accelerate physics on the GPU. I will probably wait until then to really migrate, especially if I already have a fast G92 card like the 9800 GTX or even the 8800 GTS 512MB.
