Foxconn is a relative newcomer to the motherboard business, at least in the retail segment. The truth of the matter is that thhey have been manufacturing motherboards for ages, albeit for other companies. They have only recently entered the retail market under the Foxconn brand name. Recently, they announced the availability of their new Foxconn BlackOps X48 Express motherboard. This is the latest addition to their Quantum Force series of motherboards, which are designed specifically for extreme overclocking. In fact, it is so packed full of features that Foxconn is proudly claiming that it is far superior to what was considered the ultimate overclocker's motherboard - the ASUS Rampage Formula. Nice mobo..Hmm, kinda cool that they actually added stuff most Ocer needs . And wow, they even add stuff like Dota in it
Nice looking mobo indeed and nice job Adrian A few questions and observations and please correct me if I am wrong(Usually Max or Chai lol) 1) Why did they use DDR3 memory it is still expensive and as I read it is only utilized properly in 3 channel mode on the dual CPU Intel Skulltrail? 2) Why do they use different colours on the PCI-Ex16 x2 video card slots? Usually this indicates a Pxx chipset where a true PCI-Ex16 x2 does't exist Looks good though some nice options in BIOS and smart chipset cooling ideas
An board who say you have balls of steel when you do overclocking... an bit hilarious... next step will be porn videos when you will break the new 3DMark Record ? Would be good
Umm there's some mistakes with the feature comparision: First: Rampage has onboard fan connectors (all mobos do). 2nd. Rampage has crossfire (2 pci-e) Its X48 chipset!! 3rd. Standard heatpipe cooler?? That thing on Rampage Forumula is Gigantic!! 4. Foxconn - DDR3, Rampage Formula- DDR2. Maximus Extreme - DDR3. I few pointers on your comparison. Plz fix
Those are really nice features, although why would one need to cool the chipset with dry ice ~_~ Though I prefer the Rampage if it comes to looks, I don't really like the red/blue/white on the BlackOps.
1. Yeah, you are right. Correcting that now. 2. Both boards are using the X48 chipset, so of course both support CrossFire. The CrossFire Solution mentioned in the comparison refers to the fan bundle. 3. Gigantic is besides the point. What Foxconn is differentiating their cooler based on the fact their 4-in-1 Quantum Cooler allows you to swap the standard chipset cooler with optional water cooler blocks, etc. that are part of the package. 4. Based on their press release, they are pitching the BlackOps against the ASUS Rampage, not the Maximus Extreme. Thanks for the feedback!
My ddr3 isnt working at full 1600mhz Hi I am new to overclocking, but the problem I have is that my corsair ddr3 1600 is only running at 1066 on my blackops mobo, I have increased the voltage to 1.8 opened up the cpu multiplier to 8x and highered the fsb to 400 then chose the cpu to memory scale as 1 to 333 it then says the mem is 1600 and the cpu (q9450) is at 3.2 at 1.3v but I cant get anything to run stable does anyone have any ideas??
how i see on manufacture site normal speed is 1333 and epp2 speed is 1600 and it should work on 1.8v with latency 9-9-9-24 if your cpu fsb runs on 333 your memorie should be seted on 1:1 well that is best option you will not get higher performance just because u seted higher ddr3 speed0
So there is a benefit to being vocal and all: foxconn debug bios This is a 180 degrees flip from the harsh response foxconn has been giving others in regards to linux compatiblity. Now they're just pathetically trying to regain their image. Even if lots of components are manufactured by foxconn I'd still steer clear of products released under their brand with their code.
Heh.. At least they are willing to learn from them. There are some companies who simply refuse to bother.
